What is VMuse?
VMuse is a native iPad app for creating and performing custom multitouch musical instruments. Creators arrange visual material and playable controls, test a draft, then perform a stable published version full screen.
What device does VMuse require?
The current target is an iPad running iPadOS 18 or later. VMuse is iPad-only and designed first for landscape use.
Do I need an account or internet connection?
No account, backend, or network connection is required for the core create, edit, save, reopen, publish, and built-in Performance workflow.
Why does a visible object not play automatically?
A visual is not a sound source by itself. Playability comes from a Touching Region or a control owned by a native instrument, component preset, or Digital Touchpad.
What is the difference between Test Draft and Performance?
Test Draft plays the current mutable draft without allowing edits. Performance plays the prepared immutable last-known-good publication, protecting it from unfinished Editor changes.
Can I import my own media?
Yes. VMuse accepts PNG, JPEG, and HEIC images; WAV, AIFF/AIF, M4A/AAC, and MP3 individual sounds; and a documented structured sound-library folder.
Does VMuse support MIDI?
VMuse supports optional local Core MIDI output. Built-in sampled audio is separate and never depends on a MIDI destination.
Can VMuse record a performance?
Full Performance can record VMuse’s app-audio mix into a local project recording for on-stage review. It does not use the microphone or capture room voices.
Does VMuse sync or support collaboration?
No. VMuse does not currently provide cloud sync, accounts, collaboration, public sharing, or a remote asset marketplace.
Is VMuse available on the App Store?
Not yet. Public availability still depends on completing release testing, TestFlight and distribution work, and Apple review.
